Lara and Peter were married on the most perfect day of the year for two Environmental Scientists, Earth Day! The venue they chose, Red Tail Ranch, in Ojai, surrounded by lush greenery and rolling mountains reflected their reverence for nature. Lara and Peter’s wedding was a labor of love. They carefully and intentional chose the details of their day, hand making the whip cream and pound cake for dessert, giving bee houses as favors, and building the arch they were married under out of drift wood collected together at their local beach. The Red Tail Ranch created a lovely atmosphere to highlight their unique details and and an intimate setting to celebrate with their friends and family all weekend.
It was an honor and joy to work with Lara and Peter! Their love for one another is so abundant it overflows into all they do. From the way that Peter glances at Lara, to the ease in which Lara relaxes into Peters arms, the way they both move fluidly together as one. Through out the day, and during their portraits in particular I felt as if I were in a photographer’s dream! The light and scenery were perfect but what was most amazing was that Lara and Peter needed no direction from me at all. They took their portrait time as an opportunity to focus on one another, to soak in the magnitude of the day and appreciate the small moments of being alone. Their willingness to focus on each other, show affection freely and be themselves in front of my lens allowed me to capture uninterrupted, candid, intimate moments between them. It was such a joy to be able to document as their day unfolded.
